Audio Reflections

RS3D models who sound reflects of surfaces using physics to model real-world sound propagation.

  • Virtual Room Design Tool (coming soon)
    • Subdivides complex rooms into multiple shoebox rooms
    • Adjustable for maximum control
    • Control over the desired number of early reflections
    • Lower for optimized spatial audio or increase for higher fidelity
  • Late reverb tail control
    • Shorten or lengthen the late reverb tail (optimize based on desired performance)
  • Acoustic Material editor
    • Select surface materials (with associated absorption coefficients) to control if a material is absorptive or reflective for any number of surfaces

Occlusion

Occlusion affects how sound either passes through or is completely obstructed by a barrier or partition.

  • Occluder tool
    • Automatically adds occluders to virtual rooms (walls, floor ceiling)
    • Adjustable for maximum control
  • Custom occluders
    • For partitions and other objects in the scene that affect sound propagation

Dynamic 3D Audio Culling and Attenuation

RS3D provides users the ability to control how many sounds are rendered in 3D at any given time.

  • Distance-based Culling
    • Once an object is beyond a particular distance, a sound object’s audio can be turned off as an optimization
  • Audio Attenuation
    • Each sound object can have its own attenuation curve to control how a loud a sound is based on its distance to the listener
